Cranes in the Heber Valley

Saw 7 cranes, a flock of turkeys, over a hundred deer and a 55 foot deep 90 degree hot thermal crater (at The Homestead resort). Topped it off with Tommy Burgers for everyone!

After a long day...

Looks like we wore Andrew out. Funny thing - he's got mentos stuck in (or on) his open hand.

Grandpa Allan's 82nd Birthday

video

We took the family down to Mapleton to celebrate Grandpa Allan's 82nd Birthday. We had lunch and cake and fun. The crazy kids played with balloons most of the time. It was great to see all our "not really related but close enough" relatives.

Kestrel's back.

Mama Kestrel has spent most of winter with us this year, yet I haven't managed to get her portrait when she's right outside our kitchen window (as opposed to hanging out on our swingset). I've already remove the screen and can manage to open the window enough for the camera lens. As soon as she sees the lens she leaves. Fast.

Crescent Moon and Crescent Venus

Quite a treat in the night sky tonight. I've never seen them so close together.

Megan's Artwork

Megan is taking a shell from the quail nest we had in our yard this summer for show and tell. This is her graphical representation of the quail and egg she made in computer lab yesterday. (The caption reads "They'r small. They'r breakabl. and spotted.") (Check July's archives for photos of the actual items - remarkably similar!)

Best park ever!

A little known crazy slide in Gold River in Rancho.
