We're not sure how she gets it on her nose...

We held the first, hopefully annual, backyard rodeo today. The kids had a blast, and so did the grownups. Michelle was a rodeo clown and all the kids made horses from socks and sticks. BBQ dinner, face painting, horse parade, wheelbarrow kickball... fun and games for all!

Amber's Baptism

Amber was baptized today. It was an awesome day and weekend. Michelle's parents spent the weekend in town and brought Amber's cousin Shelby, who sang at the baptism. We had a nice lunch afterwards with our friends and family.

Family of quail take over our yard.

Every time we'd go into our garden, daddy quail, sitting on our rooftop, would sound the alarm. It took a good week of searching to find the nest. Actually, we gave up the search for the nest. I decided to cut back the flowers in our planter boxes down the side of the house. While cutting weeds with the hedge trimmer, the mom quail popped out of the weeds. I screamed like a child from the surprise, I looked around to make sure no one saw me. The eggs hatched the first of July and we caught this chick the next day, took a couple pictures, and returned him to his parents.
The next day, we found a baby in one of our window wells. Since the parents were nowhere to be found, we tried to care for it. Unsuccessful.
